Horsemanship Day School (ages 8+)

The first is the Horsemanship Day School for students eight years and older. This camp is very hands-on. All students who are not currently enrolled at Windermere Equestrian Center must complete the three private lesson introductory package before enrolling in the Horsemanship Day School. This allows the farm to ensure that all participants feel comfortable around the horses and are safe while mounted prior to the camp experience. This ‘pre-camp’ involvement provides the student with the confidence necessary to have a safe and non-frustrating week. Students will learn how to care for horses in the stable and ride twice per day. Some rides will be lessons, and some will be fun horseback activities which will help to develop their riding skills in a less structured setting. Students will prepare for and participate in a mock horse show on their last day of camp.

Come spend a week learning about and caring for your equine friends! Each day is split between a minimum of one mounted lesson and a second lesson or mounted game and ground lessons. Favorite activities include, but are not limited to, grooming, feeding, bathing, clipping, braiding, lunging, and basic first-aid care.

Pony Pal Camp (ages 5-8)

Our second offering is the Pony Pals Half-A-Day Camp which is for students between five and eight years of age. This camp is all about horses and filled with activities little one love. Each camp counselor is responsible for no more than three campers. The youngsters participate in grooming, giving a bath, mucking stalls, a lead line or a lunge line riding lesson, and fun horse-related crafts and games. We send them home happy, tired, and sometimes more than a little dirty.

This program is a “horse kindergarten” designed for little ones eager to learn about the world of horses, but not quite ready for a full day at the farm. Student mentors assist the instructor so that there is adequate supervision while the little ones learn about the world of horses. They will learn how to groom, bathe, and feed their equine friends. Students will not get to ride on their own, but will receive one daily lead line ride
