The first is the Horsemanship Day School for students eight years and older. This camp is very hands-on. All students who are not currently enrolled at Windermere Equestrian Center must complete the three private lesson introductory package before enrolling in the Horsemanship Day School. This allows the farm to ensure that all participants feel comfortable around the horses and are safe while mounted prior to the camp experience. This ‘pre-camp’ involvement provides the student with the confidence necessary to have a safe and non-frustrating week. Students will learn how to care for horses in the stable and ride twice per day. Some rides will be lessons, and some will be fun horseback activities which will help to develop their riding skills in a less structured setting. Students will prepare for and participate in a mock horse show on their last day of camp. (For more information on the Horsemanship Day School, click here).
Our second offering is the Pony Pals Half-A-Day Camp which is for students between five and eight years of age. This camp is all about horses and filled with activities little one love. Each camp counselor is responsible for no more than three campers. The youngsters participate in grooming, giving a bath, mucking stalls, a lead line or a lunge line riding lesson, and fun horse-related crafts and games. We send them home happy, tired, and sometimes more than a little dirty. (For more information on Pony Pals Half-A-Day Camp, click here).
